O.H. Ivie Reservoir History

A West Texas water-supply reservoir that became one of America's defining modern trophy-bass fisheries.

O.H. Ivie Reservoir was impounded in 1990 on the Colorado and Concho rivers and is controlled by the Colorado River Municipal Water District.

TPWD lists 19,149 acres, a maximum depth of 119 feet and a 1,551.5-ft conservation pool.

Thousands of acres of uncleared mesquite, oak and juniper plus flooded saltcedar, rock and aquatic vegetation created unusually complex fish habitat.

In the modern ShareLunker era, O.H. Ivie became a national trophy-bass story; TPWD says it produced five Legacy Class fish in the 2026 collection season and led Texas waterbodies for a sixth consecutive year.
