Lake Guntersville, Alabama & Tennessee: Grass, Bass, Crappie & Tennessee River Adventure

Lake Guntersville stretches along the Tennessee River through northern Alabama and into Tennessee, covering about 67,900 acres with an extraordinary shoreline network of creeks, flats, bridges and aquatic vegetation. Largemouth Bass are the lake’s signature fishery, but crappie, catfish, striped bass, sauger, walleye and other river species add real variety. Grass and current shape much of the lake’s fishing identity, while the long reservoir means conditions can differ dramatically from one end to the other. Public access is extensive, with 21 Alabama DCNR-listed ramp locations; checking current closures should be part of the trip plan. Guntersville is equally suited to serious tournament fishing, a multi-day bass trip or a broad Tennessee River boating adventure.
